Take Time to Explore

Take Time to Explore allows people to explore the community through trips. This provides opportunities for young people and adults to explore places they wouldn't usually visit alone. Our trips allow people to feel confident and more independent, and reduce isolation.

Why is this project important?

Independence

Supporting neurodivergent and disabled adults and young people to explore and plan trips into the community helps them to feel independent and develop vital skills such as travel training, communication skills and problem solving. This enables them to feel empowered to rely less on carers and try new things.

Improved Mental Health &
Confidence

Many of the individuals we support feel isolated and have low self esteem. They have often been cared for their whole life and can feel unable to look after themselves. Take Time to Explore allows individuals to build confidence while navigating the community, knowing that they still have support and a safety net.

Communication & Relationship
Building

Isolation and lonliness affect the mental health of 80% of the people we support. Living with neurodivergence and disabilities can impact friendships and relationships due to communication struggles and judgement. Our trips provide opportunities for people to develop natural friendships and relationships with like minded people who understand.

O Lounge Birmingham

In July, we took a group of adults to O Lounge in Birmingham. It was a lovely, relaxed day filled with laughter and memories. Birmingham can be a daunting place for people for so many reasons. Visiting as a group made it much less anxiety inducing and everyone had a great time!

Donate to support our trips into the
community

We aim to keep our trips as affordable as possible to avoid exclusion. To do this we use generated income, support from local businesses and donations to reduce costs. This allows people to experience new adventures that otherwise they could not afford.
